How do I make an item collection only?

Scenario

You would like to have an item which is only available for collection (eg you can not arrange delivery of the item).

How to set this up

When adding or updating an item, click on the "Delivery" tab. Here you will see an option which says:-

"Is this item collection only?"

Set this to "Yes"

How can the visitor tell if an item is collection only?

When you click to view an item on the website, it will indicate if the item is only available for collection.

Once the item has been added to the basket, you will notice that items which are only available for collection say "This item is only available for collection".

What will happen if the only items in the shopping basket (cart) are collection only

If a customer adds an item to their basket, and the only items in their basket are items only available for collection, then they will see this message on the basket page:-

"Every item in your basket is only available for collection. You cannot have this order delivered and must collect in store."

When they go to the checkout, and get to the "Delivery" tab, they will also see the above message, and they will not be charged for delivery.

What will happen if the shopping basket (cart) has items which are a mixture of items available for delivery, and collection only

If a customer has items in their basket which are a mixture of items available for delivery, and items only available for collection, then they will be charged for delivery for just the items which can be delivered.

On the delivery section of the checkout, they will see the following message to make it clear that some items are collection only:-

Some items in your basket are only available for collection.
