Get the web address of a specific page
Summary

You want to be able to find out the web address of a specific page on your website. You might want to do this because you want to create a link to it, give somebody a link to it, or link to it in an email or email mailshot.


Terminology


A web address is referred to either as a web address or as a URL.

The address bar is the text box at the top of your web browser (eg Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer) which shows which page you're on.


What to do

The first thing to do is to find the address bar. It will usually be at the top of your web browser (eg Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer) and will start with http://

Once you've found this bar, highlight all the contents (including the http:// bit), then right click and choose "Copy". You can then paste into whatever program you need to.

Or, you can use these keyboard shortcuts once you've clicked on the address bar:-


PC
  • Press CTRL and A together (this will highlight everything)
  • Press CTRL and C together (this will copy all the text)
  • You can then paste into whatever program you need to


Mac
  • Press CMD and A together (this will highlight everything)
  • Press CMD and C together (this will copy all the text)
  • You can then paste into whatever program you need to
