How to setup your email on Thunderbird

These instructions show you how to configure your email account with [[CompanyName]]. To set up non-[[CompanyName]] email accounts, contact the company that has provided you with that email account

Please read the following BEFORE proceeding:-

  • Please make sure you follow these instructions in every detail otherwise they might not work.
     
  • There are a few slightly different versions of Thunderbird so screenshots in these instructions may vary slightly from what you see on your screen
     
  • We are only an email service provider, and do not provide Thunderbird as it is made by Mozilla rather than us, so please note:-
    • We do not provide warranty on your use of Thunderbird as it is not manufactured by us. These instructions are meant as a guide only


To set up your email on Thunderbird:-

1) Firstly click on the Thunderbird icon in your Mac Dock.

2) After Thunderbird has loaded, click on "Create a new account"

3) A new window will appear, when it does click on "Skip this and use my existing email"

4) Please fill in the following form with the corresponding details;
Your name: Your name
Email address: Your email address provided by [[CompanyName]].
Password: A password of your choice

5) An error will occur as followings, "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account." Fill in the form below with the corresponding details;

Incoming Mail Server
Incoming: IMAP
Server hostname: [[MailServer]]
Port: 143
SSL: None
Authentication: Encrypted password


Outgoing Mail Server
Outgoing: SMTP
Server hostname: [[MailServer]]
Port: 25
SSL: None
Authentication: Normal password

Username: Your email given to you by [[CompanyName]]. When all areas of the from as filled in with the above information, click done.

6) A new window will appear with a warning, tick the box "I understand the risks" and then click done. Your new Thunderbird account is created.
