Enabling pay later (Klarna) on Stripe | |
Summary
This explains how to enable pay later with Klarna on Stripe. You will need a stripe account already. What to do 1) Login to your Stripe dashboard - https://dashboard.stripe.com/ 2) Using the search bar, search for "Payment methods" and click on it to go to the payment methods page 3) Scroll down to "Buy now, pay later" section. 4) Here you should see both "Klarna" and "Afterpay / clearpay". If choosing between one or the other, we tend to find Klarna works on most websites, but Afterpay/Clearpay is a bit fussier depending on what you sell so may not work. 5) Next to each option will be a "Turn on" button. 6) Once turned on it won't necessarily say "Active" immediately. It will pop down to display a whole bunch of information. 7) Click on the name of the provider, eg "Klarna" again and it'll close all the additional info and should show "Active" 8) Next you need to go to your website manager to enable this too. This is essential otherwise the integration won't work due to the way Stripe works a) Login to your website manager b) Go to "Settings", then "Shop settings" c) Go to "Payment providers" d) Scroll down to Stripe e) Next to "Enable Klarna" change "No" to "Yes" Testing and troubleshooting It's always wise to make sure everything is working. So add some items to the basket on your website, and pretend to checkout. Make sure you can still get to the page where Stripe will give you the option to pay by card or pay by Klarna etc. If you get an error about "unexpected token" when visitors try to pay using Klarna via Stripe on your website, then please click here to read our FAQ on how to resolve this
